BMW G10 R

BMW G10 R. After a long wait and endless rumours, BMW finally pulled the wrap off their first small capacity motorcycle, the G310R, prior to its debut at the 2015 EICMA. This new offering has been crafted and engineered by BMW in Munich but will be produced in Bangalore at TVS Motor’s facility.

The company has committed to launching the G 310 R by the festive season this year, and it will compete with the KTM 390 Duke directly, while the Benelli TNT25 and Kawasaki Z250 are also competitors. The reputation the company has for quality has allowed it to charge a premium for its products. So one can expect to spot BMW bikes very rarely, even the 310s.

Pricing & Launch date:

As per the information as of now the pricing of the all new BMW G10 R would be around 2 lakh to 3 lakh. The date of the baby BMW will be hovering around July to September 2018.

Design:

In terms of looks, the G 310R is exactly what you would expect a BMW designed bike to look like. BMW says that the bike follows the same design language that we have already seen on the new S1000R.

The V-shaped headlight with the golden finished upside down forks gives the front an aggressive stance. The profile is dominated by the large well sculpted tank, the tank extensions and the massive exhaust. The seat looks long and wide enough for comfort.

Engine & Performance:

The BMW G310R sports a 313cc single-cylinder liquid cooled unit that produces 34 horses and close to 28Nm. The G310R tips the scale at 158.5kg. To ensure efficient burning of fuel, BMW has twisted the cylinder head around by 180 degrees thereby allowing a straight path for the fuel and air mixture. This change in the architecture has also given the bike a lower centre of gravity for increased confidence over corners.Tyre sizes also are familiar: 110/70-17 front and 150/60-17 rear. ABS is present.

For those who worry about quality and service, BMW has spent a lot of time setting up shop as per their standards at the TVS facility in Bangalore. All the machines required to manufacture this machine have been built in Germany and shipped to India to maintain quality standards.

Verdict:

The all new BMW G 10 R will become the hot product in indian market and there are several reasons for that as well. The reputation of the BMW brand in india is at another level, the quality of the machine would be top notch and the most important thing is the BMW badge. Now, each and everything depends on the pricing. If the pricing go beyond 3 lakh then it would be hard to be seen on indian roads. But under 3 lakh it would be a great deal.
